Review Journal highlights: Going Natural

Sunday, June 25th, 2006

Review Journal based in Las Vegas gives insight on eco-fashion with their 22 Jun 2006 editorial on “Going Natural: The Future Fashion Movement is Good for Mother Nature, Which Means it’s Good for You.”

SEGMENT: “If that weren’t enough to break the tree-hugging stereotypes, well-respected names like Diane von Furstenberg and Marc Jacobs are also adding eco-fashion to their collections, and there’s even couture eco-fashion, courtesy of designer Linda Loudermilk.

That, and the fact that celebrities like Bono (who represents the Edun clothing line), Darryl Hannah, and model Summer Rayne Oakes are lending their faces to the cause, has made wearing eco-friendly clothes as cool as Kabbalah…”

Behind the Label June 2006 edition

BEHIND THE LABEL: The June 2006 “Water” Edition of Lucire Magazine features my April trip with my sustainable style pieces during the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta shot by fine art yacht photographer extraordinaire, Cory Silken. I may not look really ill, but I totally got sick on Sea Diamond, which was the one I’m sitting on and looking over my shoulder. Probably took some heavy duty cleaning material to get that stuff cleaned up is all I have to say. I’m telling you. NEVER, EVER under any circumstances, even if you are soooo tired, go downstairs to take a nap and then re-emerge when the boat is still moving!
(above: image of the bed that I slept on right before I got a bit ill. Don’t worry! I took my business outside, over the boat’s deck)

As a side note about Antigua, the history of microclimate change there is a bit alarming. It used to have a hospitable West Indian climate with short periods of rain. However, when the intensitve sugar farming came in, it began stripping the already nutrient poor soils of its lifeblood. Unfortunately today there are no sugar cane farms left and the island is pretty much devoid of its original treecover. The climate, as a result, has changed because of the anthropogenic pressures and very little rain now makes it to the island community, making it oppressively HOT! And yes, I wore and reapplied my SPF 45 all day long, and still broke out from the sun. YIKES!

POMED: Protect Our Mother Earth’s Daughters

(This is your ass in Del Forte organic denim jeans (well, actually, it’s my ass in Del Forte)…. (but that is besides the point)…This is your ass (below) NOT in Del Forte jeans). Image
compliments of my friend Rem who likes to take pictures of girl’s asses.

The POMED Event turned out to be a pretty chill time. (GO Danelle!) Anywho, reconnected ironically with Jeremy Frechette, the dude who shot me with my roachlings and a bunch of others. Also had this guy (below) measure my brain waves. Can’t really tell a whole heck of a lot, save for that you are still alive and OH, whether you are a “left” brain or “right” brain person. (Right being devoted to the creative side, left being devoted to the analytical side). Seems to the brain guru, that my brain hemispheres are “even stevens.” (Meaning, I have a balanced brain). Jeremy, who clearly dreams of what to photograph every day, is a Right Brainer.

(Above: new writer for Treehugger I’m sorry I don’t remember your name!, Kyeann, Jeremy, Shane of Design Tex, and me. Below: don’t spook him. You may mess up his brain waves).
