I’m heading off to Tucson for a week. It’s good timing because I can use a little change of scenery. Plus it looks as if there will be some rain and thunderstorms for most of the time I’m out there, which is not so bad; it’ll be a heck of a lot cooler.
The Udall Scholarship invited me and a number of other Scholars back to speak to the new recipients. I’m really looking forward to catching up with some buddies – Scott, Liz, and Meg – who I haven’t seen in awhile. I’ll totally be chilling with Beth Fiori too – she’s the Fellowships Coordinator at Cornell who finally convinced me to actually apply for the scholarship when I kept refusing to do so. She’s been such an amazing supporter in my work and has never lost faith in my trajectory. You totally need people like that in your life.
Anyway, I’ll be on a panel discussing Environment & Capitalism, which I’m sure will be a well-attended discussion. Then on Sunday I’ll spend time talking one-on-one with the scholars-particularly on questions dealing with career path (i.e. environment/media, starting your own business, etc.)
