Vancouver, CA: The Greenest City?

I’m here in Vancouver, British Columbia, getting prepared for my 1:00 P.M. talk on “The Art & Science of Creative Activism” at the EPIC Expo. I got in yesterday. And despite an hour and fifteen minutes in the Customs queue- with the Customs officer asking me trivia questions from “what do I do” to “what street is that on” to “who is the mayor of Vancouver”, generally Vancouver is a pretty welcoming city. (Helllllllo though, ‘Couvenites – what is up with your Customs?)

Anyway, I met your mayor – Gregor – back in October 2007 on my way to Great Bear (back when he was thinking of running for mayor). He’s a good friend of my friend – and I have to say you lucked out. He’s such an awesome guy who really has your city at the center of his heart (and is a social entrepreneur, organic farmer, rides his bike to work, good dad-type-of-guy). Something I think all our mayors in the U.S. can aspire to. But Gregor has his work cut out for him with the 2010 Olympics (a lot of construction going on here, but hopefully that will be good for the public transportation efficiency in this city)…and it seems as if VANOC is all about the sustainable swerve. Right on.

So I’ll be revealing my book here, “Style, Naturally,” doing a book signing and taking Q&A for the afternoon here. I cut a little video to show you where it’s all happening below. Beautiful view, right?
