So I know I’m a little late in the game when it comes to seeking out summer interns, but I figured what the hell? I’ll put it out there anyway in case anyone on the other end is in fact looking. So here it is: Two summer positions for all those hungry for a little internship opportunity in New York. DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: MAY 15, 2009. Those who are pre-selected will need to be available the following week for a one-on-one interview. Please read details below to complete the application process.
“FASHION FORWARD” RESEARCH INTERN
Company: SRO, llc
Job Position: Intern
Location: New York, New York
Compensation: Unpaid
Length of time: (Summer position)
This position is for an energetic, committed person with a specific interest in fair trade (as it relates to the garment industry), fashion and textiles. Because this position will require extensive research, including online, over the phone, and sometimes face-to-face, a background in research and ability to really dig down deep is a prerequisite. (This research is not the type of research that you normally do in order to write consumer-based articles, but real market research that gets to the root of the answers).
I will be traveling for part of the summer, so intern will work collaboratively with my core team, but will at times need to work without direction. I’m all about someone bringing something extra cool and different to the table.
Approximate hours/week: Anywhere from 3 days a week to 5 days a week (occasionally can work from home as long as work is complete).
Qualifications:
- An interest in textiles, trade and fashion
- An interest or passion for sustainability
- Great writing competency and communication skills
- Great research skills (i.e. library, trade reports, science journals; access to college resources is highly preferred)
Application process: Concise cover letter + resume + Career History Form (if no “career” options, please put your activities and describe)

“CLIMATE SOLUTIONS” RESEARCH + COMMUNICATIONS INTERN
Company: SRO, llc
Job Position: Intern
Location: New York, New York
Compensation: Unpaid
Length of time: (Summer position)
This position is for an energetic, committed person with a specific interest in climate change solutions and community awareness/activism, and policy. Because this position will require extensive research, including online, over the phone, and sometimes face-to-face, a background in research and ability to really dig down deep is a prerequisite. This particular position, though taking place in New York where our offices are based, will principally be focused on solutions for the state of Pennsylvania, so if you are from the state of PA or are agnostic to where solutions occur, then this will be a good position for you.
