Restore Forests & Train Artisans Mozambique’s Miombo Biome

The Mezimbite Forest Centre in the Sofala Province of South-central Mozambique is the incubation center for numerous sustainable development enterprises across the country. Housed on nearly 200 hectares of land, the Centre founded by Ashoka Fellow and Architect, Allan Schwarz, provides high-value jobs to hundreds of Mozambicans including furniture, homeware, and jewelry artisanship; natural oil production; agroforestry; and other forest services through the enrichment replanting and management of extensive forests throughout the country.

Help give artisans the skills they need through our artisan training programs – or help us restore the noble hardwoods of the Miombo Biome through our tree planting program here.
