From kissing frogs to carbon neutral cities
Monday, June 8th, 2009I just spent a few lovely days in Brisbane (during World Environment Day), an eastern city in Australia for GreenFest 09. According to their Mayor, they are working on a goal to make their city carbon neutral by 2026. Their I (Heart) BNE logo actually made it’s way over to NYC and like any American city, NYC sued them for swiping the idea from the I (Heart) NYC logo, but in the end Brisbane prevailed. I had a chance to speak to 150+ business owners at Brisbane City Council, give a talk on sustainable development and design, meet Kate Jones, 29, (Minister of the Environment), the youngest female minister in Queensland Parliament and the youngest Member of the Queensland Government, and of course enjoy some of the festivities – from aboriginal performances to kissing frogs to catching up with Kelly, editor of the eco-fashion magazine, Peppermint.
little video compliments of my flip.
